No one is reporting on the cars that may have been damaged yet--they're focused on the 111 multi-million dollar homes that have been effected and the traffic jams that are resulting from the road closure.

I live a couple of miles away from the "landslump", and I was driving up on Mt. Soledad the morning it happened. I noticed the stoplights weren't working at several intersections, and then I saw multiple helicopters buzzing around, and news station vans scurrying about. When I got home, I heard what happened on the TV news. Later, two large water main breaks caused floods and street closures just a few miles south in Pacific Beach, adding to the traffic snarls. Our infrastructure is rotting while the politicians gift the local sports team owners with stadium improvements and ignore deferred maintenance, while granting city employees huge pension increases that have dug them a $2.8 billion debt and shut them out of the bond market. It's a clusterfu<k, for sure...

That particular area has had slides in the past, as long ago as 1961, when it was first developed. They never should have allowed the developers to put in houses there, but in San Diego, the developers OWN city hall.

TT--4th generation native San Diegan and not very proud of that, at the moment.
