I've judged several of these cars over the years. The carpets are exceptional to crawl around on!

It appears this car has the factory head unit from '89 which is basically an Alpine CD player rebadged and cosmetically changed for Porsche OEM use. I can't say for sure what came originally on these '89 Silver Anniv. cars, but they may have been fitted with a Blaupunkt Reno cassette deck for '89. Should this car have an upgrade from the original equipment, someone paid big bucks to have the factory CD player...

well, it sold on eBay an hour ago for $32,500. good for him, but a little too much scratch for that car......IMHO.

Wait a week to see if it is listed again on Ebay due to a "dead beat" bidder

looking at an 89 silver ann 911 for possible purchase
One of my early cars was a new 1975 911S Silver Anniversary Coupe...
Just curious, how can a '75 911 and an '89 911 both be Silver Anniversary models?

That buyer shows negative feedback for claiming to not be able to afford a set of Fuchs he won for a little over $3,000 back in mid-July. I wonder how he'll swing a $32,500 Porsche...

It's way too much money for that car anyway. For that kind of money, if I were staying in the mid years, it would have to be a 491-packaged car, or even a real Turbo.

75 911 SSilver anniversary was 25 years of Porsche, 89 Silver Anniversary was 25 years of the 911.

Price is way up there, for sure. (insofar as market.....of course, pocketbook dictates ability to pay [[[market aside]]]]] )

My 89 SA Edition was around the $22K world (Coupe) with both bottom/top rebuild.........it's simply what the buyer can afford to pay (frick the market......). If someone wants it, they'll pay.....their budget is of no concern to others (they pobably could care less with the penny pinching, market observers....)

.........$$$$$ are $$$$$$$$$$,.....all relative.

Best,

i know we're talking about an emotional purchase here.......so perhaps i shouldn't be so strict about what i pay and don't pay. i fell in love with these cars when i was in high school, so i want one from when i was that age, even though sometimes i like the 993 a little bit more. the car i want to buy is the car that i will keep for 15 years, drive on nice days to the office, the occasional romp through the country on a weekend.

in my mind (feeble as it is) the car should be as original as possible, 3 or fewer owners, less than 75k miles, needing just about nothing. i'm not interested in a project, i don't have the bandwidth (someday i will loose myself in a big project, just not now.)

my car is out there somewhere. i just gotta let the game come to me.

Thanks genripper I was figuring it was something like that, but isn't Porsche older than 57 years? I thought it started back in the late forties, not 1950.

Well that was an interesting ebay listing. $32,500! As someone mentioned we'll see if its relisted in the near future.

If that car is worth 32.5K then certainly I have a car worth at least that or more. But my car is not for sale (at least not now).

I think as these cars get older and the really nice clean unmolested low milage cars get farther and fewer between, certainly there will be some upward pressure on the values.

Anyway...gotta go take a drive in my Carrera.

I agree. Anyone with a low mile (or ultra low mile) 3.2 Carrera or SC should hold on tight. Values will only go up... I would bet that in due time these cars will take off like the pre impact bumper cars are doing right now IF you have a solid, original low mileage example...

The first 356 was built in 1948. However, 1950 marked the first year for a 356 with a Porsche engine and Porsche became an independant auto maker in '50.

I was looking through the classified section an issue from Excellence dated 1995 and the long-hoods were averaging $8,000-12,000 where as the SC's had asking prices starting at $15,000 and the Carreras $28,000.

There was even a 4-cam 356 listed in good condition for $9,000

I am...but only to the steering wheel ! While that '89 SA fetched "top dollar", I don't find it to be too far out of line. "If" the seller is willing to wait for the "right buyer" to come along...
