I am only considering it because both my boots need to be changed.

honestly, i used to read about turbo tie rod upgrades from magazine ads 15 yrs ago. i never knew it was actually about replacing this poor excuse for a tie rod with what i would call a regular tie rod (i was used to BMWs).

so, yes, it's worth it, esp if you have one frozen like i did, with collapsed rubber.

What did they charge? I've been contemplating doing mine too but have heard way more horror stories than success stories.

Tie rod end removal was a breeze. Bottle jack the strut extension & smack the bolt under the castellated nut & it’s out. Forget the numerous proponents of pickle forks & specific Porsche tools. Smack it. It was easy & painless.

The tie rods were a different story. You can’t just screw the old ones off the way Wayne’s book says. There is no way I could bend the rod - via the rubber knuckle – to supply enough leverage in the right direction....
Turbo tie rods are a great improvement, and don't have to be that big of a task. For removal, simply put some vice grips or a pipe wrench, etc. on the OLD ones (you don't care if you mangle it), and "cuss them off" .

Easy job for me.

The upgrade was already taken care of by the prior owner
