I wonder if there were two similar cars, because SCM gave a somewhat different assessment: "Good paint, very good brightwork, excellent glass. Window gaskets and felt look new, clean interior appears all stock. Excellent seats dashboard straight without vinyl problems, period radio, wood steering wheel. Condition 2." Looking at the picture, it certainly had correct wheels/hubcaps, but one item was strange - the wipers parked on the wrong side, and were black, not silver. SCM concluded that this sale was, "Very expensive and overpriced, but it should serve as a wake-up call to early 911 owners that their cars have fully arrived on the collector car scene."

VintageRacer: The latest issue of SCM that I've read is September, when did Mr. Schrager write on the $71K sale?

October 2007. The new issue has a beautiful picture of a 1937 Jaguar SS 100 2.5L Roadster of the cover.

Pete,
The new issue also has an article on a recent auction sale of a 1953 Ferrari 375 MM. It would certainly look nice in your garage.

I assume you know Jim S.? Can he be found around here?

His email address is published, and he has responded pleasantly to some comments I sent him.

I have always thought his articles and opinions were brilliant. I am anxiously awaiting for his new book.

Jim S. is a true gentleman, and extremely knowledgeable about Porsche. I can't wait for my Oct issue to arrive, I'll be interested to see what he has said about that very high number for the '65. I usually don't get SCM until the 17th or 18th. Bakersfield still uses Pony Express, and their horses are really old...

Jim S. also keeps a few very nice old Porsches just down the road from me, over near South Bend, IN.

Most recently had a sliver 73"S" Targa, restored, but nicely done, that I drooled over for a bit...

Certainly a "Go TO" Guy if you need info on 356's... you can reach him on the 356 Talk Registry...
