Green = HD (Heavy Duty)
Yellow = Sport

I'll add that "generally" is right. I had two yellow sport shocks that wore out, and when Bilstein replaced them, I got green ones. Bilstein told me that sometimes Germany sends yellow, sometimes green. The part number on the shock, in any event, was correct.
As a related aside, Bilstein support, in my experience, is very good. FWIW, I've gotten slightly better responses from the East Coast office. If your Bilsteins need rebuilding or revalving, you can send them yourself to the West Coast office for around $55 each plus shipping, where they will rebuild the insides to your specs.
The Sports are stiffer.... Bill my strut housing is green, the strut insert is all silver and I can't find any numbers on them. Where they stamped into the side of the inserts and then over the years have worn out? Would you recommend the HD in the front and the SP's in the rear?
