The number on the rod is not always the part number, in this case it's probably Porsche's manufacturing number. Always use the book to determine correct numbers.

Thanks Pete, you are the only one that didnt respond with a smart *** answer. I have been rebuilding Harley Davidson Drag Bike engines for years and dont find Porsche engines as mystical as all of these wise guys make them out to be. I check part numbers against parts lists as I work on them to make sure I am dealing with a unit that has not been hacked by some goofball that thinks because he can afford it he can work on it. Members with bad attitudes and nothing better to do than run other people over is the reason I no longer "belong". Again, thanks. Mark Earnest

I'd like to know what was so "smart ***" about my reply. I was trying to help thinking maybe you transposed the numbers. Why don't you lighten up. I'll be sure NOT to try helping you again.

Mark, I was genuinly curious about your adventure into your crank case. I got out every book I have to find the part number/production number, as I am sure everyone else did. equality72521 went so far as to post a parts manual.

--Hello, my name is Mark--

That is his name and his signature and is on all of his posts....do you see the line above it? every thing below it is on every post he makes.

why do we get this every time we try to help. usually if I guy is in his crank case he has wild stories to tell. we just want to know more, and had no reason to **** you off.
