Exclamation System Pressure, conflicting information... Sorted, I think!

Hello all,

I'm still involved with my long standing CIS problem.
I found on the net that System Pressure should be between 65 and 75 psi but I have had other advice that it should be between 75 and 85 psi.

Now I can adjust the pressures no worries, but I need to know what it should be, because System pressure effects Cold Control Pressure.

Does anyone know for sure what System Pressure should be for my car,

1976 911s California car but with the air pump and EGR removed.

Thanks as always,

Here are the 2 pages from the Porsche shop manual covering 76-77 model years. Everything but the warm control pressure is the same for both years.

Hi Kerry, David, Pete, Jim, and Brett

Well I think I've finally got it nailed.

System pressure needed to be B/w 65 and 75 psi. I got 73 psi.

At 13 degrees C
Cold Control pressure needed to be B/w 11.6 and 17.7 psi. I got 15 psi.

Warm Control pressure needed to be B/w 39 and 45 psi. I got 45 psi.

Tomorrow I'll fill her up with new oil. Check the plugs and points, lube the cylinders a little and turn her over by hand. If all that checks out and I'm feeling game, I might turn the key

A big thank you to those that offered advice and Kerry for the test graphs, and yes, even you Ice for being outside the box I know you were outside, but you were at least thinking of the rest of us on the inside

Frank, I didn't remember being in on your threads, but having a CIS car myself, I make it a point to read all the CIS threads very closely. Had to search to find that I had suggested dichloromethane to clean the WUR screen. Good luck with it. Fingers crossed.

Brett
