Post Third brake light

I want to add a brake light (for safety) on the
rear package shelf of a 1969 911. Any suggestions
as to what looks good and is not too obtrusive?

I, also, had the concern of not being visible enough. I didn't like any of the third brake lights I saw in any of the catologs i.e. performance products etc.

I found a light at my local aftermarket Harley shop. I don't think you will find one at a Harley dealer, as most of them are too **** to carry many of the trick aftermarket parts other than those endorsed/approved by Harley. These lights are typically used as stop/tail lights on custom bikes, mounted to license plate frames etc.

The light is about 6 inches long X 1/2-3/4 inch wide. I have a Targa, so I mounted it in the middle of the bar. Cost was about $50.00 + wire.
I had hoped to utilize a more sensitive mechanical stop light switch, but could not find a good mounting option under the dash. Tieing into the stop light switch on the master cylinder works well.

The light works great, is not gaudy and is largely not visible until lighted. If you have trouble finding one, e-mail (charles@inreach.com), and I will get the manufacturers name/information

Good luck

I installed a Porsche third brake light in my SC. I installed the one that goes in the lower portion of the rear window, assuming it would be more out of the way than one on top of the window (which it was). The stock Porsche lower third light comes with very ugly white adhesive. A trip to a local body shop I got a foot or so of black two sided body tape which worked fine. I wired it up into the left rear brake light, and found that the left light then was dimmer than the right light. So I used one of the Hella $10 relays that are sold for adding higher wattage bulbs up front (just happen to have one) and tapped into 12V power at the rear fuse box in the engine compartment. Worked fine. You might try Zims in TX to see if they "happen" to have any laying around still. They were generally selling for maybe $125 but Zims had some for like $45. Foreign Intrigue in Maine might also have one for a decent price.

Cool

Interesting, I´m thinking as well on the issue. I am considering the rear roof spoiler, I´ve seen in some 911´s. It´s a tiny spoiler at the end of the roof, with a 3rd light into it... looks cool. Not sure how difficult it is to fit!
