Pete - You'll do better flying over every barn in the US with a magnetometer trailing behind your airplane...

Randy: LOL, yeah, I know. I don't think that to many long hood cars live in Bakersfield. But, if I find one that's been here for the duration it won't have any rust!

Disagree that they are hard to find. There's plenty around if you don't have to have an S. I've bought and sold three (including an S) in the last year and a half and had no problems finding cars. There's a few guys who trade these cars in the "shadows" of sites like Early 911S registry and if you put a WTB post up, you'll get hit with cars and at reasonable prices. But be prepared to buy. Bottom line money talks, so have it ready and don't hesitate when a car is even close to what you are looking for.

I had a 72 RS look--very nice car--for sale and I couldn't believe how many tire kickers I got and people humming and hawwing about whether it was the car for them. Car ended up selling to buyer in Germany on eBay within 24 hours of posting it and then a couple of the other "potential" buyers suddenly got upset because "there were going to buy it".

1st car came from St Louis on eBay --69T w/ 2.9.

2nd car came from San Francisco from one of the "shadow" sellers--73S matching #s.

3rd car came from Dallas Tx on eBay--72 RS look w/ full resto. All were good cars w/ no issues and well priced. Plus I made a couple of bucks on each when sold.

They are out there...
