What is the correct tension (deflection) on the AC compressor belt?

No one? In another forum the reply was reasonably tight, which is vague. I am used to 1/2" which may be too loose.

Rule of thumb on V belt is 1/2 twist.
Then drive the car with AC on for a few minutes.
If belt slips when clutch is engaged then you tighten it a hair
until slip (squeal) stops.

I always thought that a 1/4" deflection (halfway between pulleys) was the norm, no?

id just tighten till it stops squealing, that way you wont risk bearings. Its not a timing belt after all.
