Default Installing new carpet-- what adhesive to use?

My new carpet just arrived and I will begin installation soon. Any recommendations for what type of adhesive to use? Also, any other pointers or tricks to help the project? The car is an 89 Cab. Thanks for any ideas.

I used the 3M spray adhesive in the green can, has an adjustable spray pattern. Mark out with a Sharpie the area to be sprayed on the body of the car, spray within that area, coat the carpet side, wait a minute and stick it down. Be careful not to get any glue residue on the carpet-wear latex gloves!
Also, lay out all the patterns in a dry run so that everything overlaps properly, otherwise you will have open gaps between pieces.

Good luck,

Nick

You have a fair amount of choices: (1) Weldwood contact cement, (2) 3M Super 77, (3) 3M 74 Orange. (5) 3M Super Trim Adhesive. Do a search here and on Pelican Parts for a variety of opinions on each. I just used contact cement and am reasonably happy with the results.

Thanks for the info. I removed most of the old carpet last night. When I started to remove the rear seat belts I thought I was in for trouble. As my socket was rounding off the bolt. I switched out the 17mm 12 point for a 6 point and they came right out.

I've used the 3M Super 77 and it works great. Not cheap (will take 4-5 cans at $16 +/- each) but very easy to apply.
