Post Winter Storage

One week ago, I placed my 85 911 into winter storage. It's in a clean, warm garage in my home. This week, I noticed a substantial amout of oil dripping from the engine. The oil drain plug is secure. I started the engine and noticed that oil is dripping on the exhaust manifold located on the forward portion of the engine. Has anyone experienced the same event with faulty seals and/or other possibilities that may be causing this problem???

I had this experience (while the car was garaged in January-February)about 9 years ago and needed to replace the oil return tubes. but, my leak seemed to be more towards the rear of the car.

Could be the oil pressure sender. It's for the oil pressure idiot light and has a diaphram in it that goes bad. You will have to do a partial engine drop to reach it since it's on the front of the engine.

There are several sources of oil drainage on top of the engine. See the tech.rennlist.com article on CIS airbox replacement, page 2. Index is http://tech.rennlist.com/911/Engine.html
