Post seized bearing in alternator...

Had always heard the expression of the 'wail of the banshee', but got to hear it firsthand when a bearing in my alternator seized while on the track at Pocono last Sat. Have checked out removal/installation in Dempsey's '101 Projects', and also looked at the Bentley SC Manual, and it looks like a fairly straightforward job. Any other suggestions/'watch-out-for's' I should be aware of? Also considering having the fan powdercoated a silver/metallic color. Has anyone used this color, and if so, how difficult to keep clean? Thank you in advance.
