Ok first off I cleaned up the fuse box whcich was a birds nest of wires thx to the PO....replaced all fuses and left the open slots for items no longer used, for example the AC.....which leads me to the 2nd part....is the little box in the front a AC blower unit and can I get rid of it....Every connection cleaned and coated with di-lithium grease.

You can get rid of it, but there are a couple of things to do first. There are two hoses that connect below it in the top of the picture. They lead down and underneath the car. If you're not going to ever use the AC, just cut them from below. You also need to disconnect the plugs and then pull the wire out from behind the foot board on the passenger side. You'll see it connected to a plastic piece covering a hole leading to the smugglers box. You might as well remove the entire system of hoses, condenser, compressor, etc. Do a search here or on Pelican for all the info.

I removed all the AC componants except the blower you are showing. It pumps air through the dash vents and is great for blowing more air to the interior on a very humid day.

Yeah I noticed Id lose the extra push through the vents....hoses have been removed from the underside and wheel well of car already....Im gonna get rid of it and deal with the downside.

Justed wanted to make sure it was AC related before I dump it....any one need one..it works good.

AC blower and lines in GArbageeee........good riddence.....what a pain to pull out....banged head into fiberglass hood twice...that besides getting my fingers cuaght inbtween plastic and sheet metal...


Not sure....Im still cleaning out the Po's handy work and then some.

Lots of red fluid still in the lines....smells like poo.

If you're going for light weight, ditch the spare wheel and just carry a can of tyre weld, you can then ditch the air compressor. Also you can save a heap of weight (12kgs) by replacing the battery with an odessey PC680. check it out: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...75#post3269575

The car is going on a diet ona budget...untill next year the misses is already pissy that I got the car even though she knows I have to tinker and a new A3 isnt the place to start removing stuff

BTW some squirell is gonna be pissed I found his NUTS.....like 10 rotten acorns in there.
