I got a box from Sunset Porsche today (what a great resource!) with some goodies from Germany, including a new door pocket cover for the passenger door of my 1981 SC Targa. Before I bungle the hardware removing the old one, I thought I would ask the pros how to properly remove the old one and install the new one.
Thanks in advance for your help!

The pocket has, I think, 5 screws holding it on. Three along the bottom edge. One at the back (right up high near the lid. It screws into the lid hinge) One at the front.(that’s screwed to a small plastic block. It comes in from the front)
Oh, there is also one inside the pocket that screws into the rear side of the door handle. (this screws in going towards the front of the car.)
When these are out the pocket will come off leaving the lid still attached to the door.
Am I making any sense???

If you loosen the rear end of the pocket you may be able to get to 2 screws that hold the 'spring hinge' of the lid, to the door. If you remove these, the pocket "lid" will pull rearward out of the door handle.
You may be able to do this without removing the pocket completely, but I'm not sure.

Just take the door pocket off. It is not a big deal and it is never a good idea to take short cuts I take mine off all the time for different reasons.
1. use a medium philips and look for the three screws along the bottom of the pocket.
2. use a stubbt philip in by the door hinge to take the philips out of the front of the door pocket
3. a philips holding the back by the where the rear of the pocket hinges
4. flip open the pocket lid and there is one holding the pocket to the handle.
your done, take the pocket off clean replace and lube whatever you want and put it all back together.

Thanks Iceman and psychoideas. Got pocket off, exposing two more philips screws holding rear bracket of lid to the door. It was a snap from there. Sorry for what seemed like a dumb question, but I'd rather ask than break some $$ part because I was too proud to ask.
