I'd take a picture of the pully, but i have the thing assembled again and oddly enough , the wobble is gone for the most part. I adjusted the shims and installed a new belt and maybe that did it... I will be keeping an eye (and ear) on it.

I just went through a similar ordeal - self-imposed by not putting the shims back on in the right order. I ended up buying a new fan (and shims and outer pulley half) from Pelican Parts and getting the alternator rebuilt. I took the car to a mechanic. He quoted me three hours labor for the time. It turned into a big headache because the new fan was off-balance and the alternator took two tries to come back right. It was the best $180 I ever spent - paying the shop to deal with the headache that is!

I had the alternator bearing fail on my 911S (2.7 liter motor). I heard it start to go (fan was hitting the shroud).
I went ahead and swapped the bearing out myself. Pretty straight forward fix. I found the bearing at a local shop for $10. I wish all P-car fixes where that cheap...
