Big time wake up!
I added the M&K one in one out muffler with cat bypass to the 87 Carrera today. Wow, what an improvement! It's like a different car, kind of like unbuttoning some really tight pants. How's that for an analogy?
I had a B&B muffler with cat bypass on my old 86 Carrera that I owned years ago. So far I am very impressed with the M&K muffler. It has a great deep gurgle at idle that I don't remember with the B&B, not to mention that it only weighs about 11 pounds!
I have put about 20 miles on it so far. I have a feeling that it will sound even better with a few more miles.

It is more common to drill than replace. heck, just pulling the snorkle off will help. I went from no drain hole stock, to fabspeed. I had to poly bag the snorkle with every wash.

Theoretically, of course, if one were to replace or drill holes the airbox in a state where a visual inspection were conducted bi-annually as part of a smog control test, would the stock airbox have to be theoretically reinstalled to pass such an inspection?

the performance website won't let me copy the picture. or my office computer won't let me. no, I am not on the fabspeed payroll, just a fan...the sound as it climbs up the 3k-4k-5k rpm is unlike anything I have ever known. powerful awsome.
just look on the automotion.com website for performance products. it's also on the fabspeed site.

Just wondering if I take a hole saw and swiss cheese my factory box if i should save the holes. Duct tape on the airbox wouldn't be considered "non factory", would it??

put the holes on the backside and underside, so you can't see them. then remove some of the sound proofing in the surrounding area so you can hear what you've done.

wow, just went to find another picture and there it was.
brent, your talk of KONI's makes me want them. I also want a new cat. not a bypass, but a free-flow cat. mine must be original and crusty.

Let's do some math....I get 100% of stock for $000.00 or I can get 80% of a Wong chip for $400.00 is the Wong chip a 20% H.P. gain over stock? I think not. will it improve the performance of an otherwise stock car? It sound like it will, but there is a reason everyone says uncork prior to chip. I want the chip but don't want the corked version only to have to send it back in a fiew months for the free flow version. it's a one step at a time thing.
