Default Exhaust Tone

Ok, I keep going back & forth between the Fabspeed Muffler Bypass & the M&K 1-in / 1-out on my 84 Cab with the Fabspeed Pre-Muffler. I like the tone of the bypass, but not the volume quite so much.

Is there anything out there with the bad-boy track rumble of the bypass with a slightly quieter volume, db-wise? I'm back to having to be into work earlier & don't like knowing I'll definitely wake the neighbors at 6:30-7:00am.

Thanks.

Have you seen the exhaust tips that direct sound toward the ground? This might be a way to keep the tone you like but lower the volume. I saw them at the RennLine booth at the Hershey Porsche gathering last month.

The car owner said one of the tracks in Long Island required lower db levels and prompted him to get these tips.

Check out type-911.co.uk /parts & accessories / exhausts / 84mm single outlet rear muffler. You can even listen to it on line!

Chris - I find the turn-down tip that came with the bypass tends to make it quieter for bystanders, not for occupants (IMO); this is better (still not great) for the neighborhood, but it also looks like there's a turd hanging out my dog's butt.

SKI - I like the sound of the dual 84mm better than the single. I have the stock original Dansk in the garage also. The problem with audio clips is you usually don't know how far away the microphone is, or have much of a reference to judge actual volume on (for example, would be great to hear, "this is a 50db tone, this is a 70db tone", etc., followed by the generated notes). Even people speaking is a reference of sorts.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Fred, I hear what you're saying!

Gearbox and engine currently out of my SC at the moment and just waiting on the shop to tell me what expected bills are going to be. If there is anything left over I plan to buy the single outlet and install. If I do, then I'll take a little video with me having a chat while my 4yr old blips the throttle. That might do it!
I also just picked up improved engine sound pad from appbiz and it will be installed when it all goes back together. Thinking this might cut down on a bit of cab noise. I'll let you know how that works out too.

Cheers,
