spedometer question
I posted this in the turbo forum but got no response. I finally got my car on the road after nearly 2 years of work. when it was still not running i was rolling it in and out of the garage to work on it in the driveway. while doing this i could see the odometer ticking over slowly over time. There several miles on it by the time I was finished. any wyas first test drive the odmoeter was working but no indicated speed. checked the connections in the shifter tunnel and it was loose. reconnected everything. now the speed needle works but not the odometer. rechecked the connections everything is tight. anyone seen this happen before? i just doenst make sense to me.

Nice car! I have intermittently had a similar speedo problem. The more I drive the car the less this seems to be a problem, so I'm guessing that a weak connection may be the cause.

I had the same problem with mine ie: odometer stopped working but speedo still working. Pulled it out and sent it away to specialist repair shop (U.K.) Cost about USD200 for the repair, no idea what they did.

if you lift the access panel on the rear floor and disconnect the speedo wires (I think one is green) and tap them together, you should see the speedo needle bounce. If no bounce, then its your guage or the wire link to it.
If it bounces, the problem is most likely the sensor in your transmission. 9 times out of 10 its the guage.
