915 Shifting Issue
Okay here is the story. Went to drive the car the other day and I could not engage first gear at first. Then it was first and third. I adjust the shift linkage and every gear engaged fine. Then the problem happened again. I am having a hard time getting the shift linkage adjusted so all of the gears will engage. Currently I have all of the gears but third. What is the story? Thanks in advanced!

I do know this can be a VERY finacky adjustment, did you try replacing all your shift bushings ? if not it may hlp, relatively cheap to do also..

Could the shifter coupler be moving. I had this problem ( only had 1st and 3rd) and found I had not tighen the shifter coupler. (fyi you get 1st and 3rd because these gears are pushing the shifter to the rear of the car ( Opposite of the shifter) but 2nd and 4th require the couler to pull the shifter. If it is not tight enough it cannit pull to select the gear.
This would not explain the problem form the begining.
Good luck

Well the problem was that the allen set pin had come loose. I tightened it the other day when the problem first started but it came loose again. I guess I will just have to use some loctite to keep it from happening again. I have visions of driving and then suddenly being without any gears. I live in the mountains so that would really suck especially if going up hill.
