boss wants me to take home his 912e
part reward, part hide it from his wife. my boss wants me to "keep" his 912e that his brother in law was suppose to take. can you say red dud. he says I can have blank check funding for any restoration I want to do. anyone got an extra 3.2 sittin' around?

Douglas: What year do CA cars become pollution control exempt? '75? If so, be careful, you'll want to register it someday! A good friend of mine lives in the mid-west, he stuffed an MFI 2.2S motor into his 912E, talk about waking up a sleeping dog!

If I was given a 912, I think I might be inclined to put the engine on the shelf and buy a hot rod VW engine to sitck in it. Cheap horsepower, and if it blows up, nothing really is lost. You could probably get 150 HP for under $5k; by comparison, my 356 race engine is 160HP, has a 20 hour life between rebuilds, and cost $17,000.

it is sitting in a shop in san dimas with smog issues. I think that is why the brother in law backed out. he was going to turn it into a baja bug. it was very clean with new guards red outside, but smokers lung ashtray brown on the inside. I'll play with it and use it as a learning curve. he said I could have half of what ever I can get out of it if I just want to sell it. no thanks, I want to play. frankinporsche sound fun!
