Default How replace rear quarter glass?

Tried a search on this, but all I get is "bad response from server."

Anyway, does replacing the rear quarter-window glass and its seal require the string-in-the-groove technique that you use when replacing a windshield, or should the rubber seal simply be forced into place and pulled over the bodywork flange from inside with strong fingers? (I'm in the process of replacing my side glass with Plexiglas.)

And a subsidiary question: The car I'm working on is an '83 SC, and I'm trying to use a new 964 seal, which is what I happen to have, rather than a 911 seal. The Plexiglas is 911-size, and the 964 seal looks to me identical to a 911 quarter-window seal, but am I missing something? Was there some minor bodywork change that will make it impossible to use a 964 seal on a 911?

Thanks,
Stephan
