Post Oil Temp Gauge

I know this has been asked a billion times but please one more time for a two year rookie to a 85 Carrera owner. What are the temp readings on the guage since I can not see the numbers even if I glance to the side of the guage. Red line is what? Middle bar is What and what should I usually see for a temp under noremal west coast driving conditions. Thanks.

The numbers are at the extreme left of the gauge, you may have to literaly put your face down on the steering wheel to see them. They are in Centigrade.

Here's a partial answer: the upper white line is 248 F (120 C) and the middle line is 194 F (90 C).

from my 83SC (Euro), gauge looks the same as later Carrera and numbers correspond to Nylart.

top of white box at bottom of gauge, approx 6:30 O'clock - 60C

1st white tick, approx 8:00 o'clock - 90C
2nd white tick, approx 9:30 - 120C
bottom red block, approx 11:00 - 150C

Guys:
Memorize this and you'll never need numerical gauges:
from bottom reading up:
- first white block..60 degC ( 148 degF)
- first white line...90 degC ( 194 degF)
- next white line....120 degC (248 degF)
- next...lower part of red block..150 degC (302degF)

now...just estimate with round-off error:
150/200/250/300 degF ....simple !

Just remember 250 is "too damn hot".
