That is what I have I think mine are 9's on the back and 7.5 on the front on my 78SC. I think the problem lies in offsets and rolling fenders and if you want the wheels to tuck under. Mine don't.

I have 7.5 x 17 on the front and 9 x 17 rear, Fikse FM-5s. Call Wheel Enhancement, rep for Fikse, talk to Dave-310.836.8908. He will get all your particulars regarding your car and spec the offset etc...mine fit absolutely perfectly inside the flares, no rubbing etc...and they are beautiful too.

I have an 82sc and just got 17x8 and 17x9, 235/40 and 275/40 tires. Fronts no problem rears were tight 255's would have been an easier fit. One fender was flared sligtly to make room. Negative camber also will make a difference. Good luck.

I have FM-10s on my '81 SC. 8 x 17 front w/ 225/45-17s and 9 x 17 rear w/ 255/40-17s. Fikse built them for my car last year and they determined the offsets. Only problem I have is on a fast downhill right hand turn I get some tire rubbing left front. When the left front corner compresses.
My fenders are already rolled. Maybe I need to go to stiffer front shocks (car has Bilstein Sports). Maybe I need to get Carrera sway bars. Maybe I need to buy some of WEVO's or Stomski's front camber plates and dial in more negative camber. Maybe I need all of the above.
I'm not interested in raising the front end at all. Then I have to raise the rear and have the car realigned and corner balanced again.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Offsets that work for narrow bodied cars are
30 mm for 8" front wheels
18 mm for 9" rear wheels
