Default Carrera Emblem position on 911 3.2 with tail

My Carrera emblem is missing so I have purchased a replacement.

I have searched the forum but have been unable to determine the exact positioning of the Carrera emblem on the rear deck lid of my 1988 911 with a tail.

If someone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Skeogh

On my '86 Carrera [no tail] the top of the big C starts about 2 3/4 " from the body indent where the grill is situated. Of course it's centered l to r. It's great that you don't have one so that you can clean/wax the whole decklid before you apply the new one. I would like to remove/replace mine so as to clean up under the Carrera.

Thanks ga, but I had heard that the position Carrera script on the the tail vs. the non-tail 911's is different. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks.

Why put it back on? It just makes waxing a pain in da ***. I left mine off. If the guy behind me doesn't know it's a Carrera, who cares? Just a thought...

Clean the area good but don't wax before applying. The adhesive won't
adhere as well to a waxed surface.

I put mine exactly midway between the bottom of the spoiler and the lower lip of the engine cover. Looks correct.

I just did this last week. had I gotten every last drop of glue off I would have left it blank a while. go with the midway point. I used a blowdryer, dental tools, then a claybar to remove the old script. no wax. use some 3M 2090 painters tape to line it up. remember, once it's on, it's on. you have to bust it off to start with a new one if you screw it up. good luck.

check out "FIRST SHOW-FIRST PLACE". it's an original car with the script showing clearly under the tail. it's in his second group of pictures. it looks good to me.
