Rear End Growl

Rear End Growl
Does anyone else get a rear end growling only from time to time, not always, when turning left or right, typically from a standing start going up hill. Almost sounds as if you had studded snow tires on pavement, just on the turning side. Once straightened out, the noise is gone. Could it be the rear wheel bearings, or CV joints? Why only occasional, not always. Any ideas would be appreciated.

ga, I recommend you get the Swepco out of the tranny and put in Mobil 1 75w90 fully synthetic gear oil. Swepco is the preferred oil for the 915 tranny. You'll notice a difference.

So, do you think it could just be my new Yokohama Avid tires that are so grippy that they "growl" on the pavement, only sometimes, when going around a right-hand corner from a stop sign, on a hill ??
I am still confused.

Get your option codes from the sticker under your front hood or your owners book....limited slip differential would be...221.
Bearings usually make a howling type noise and would be very hard to hear at slow speeds due to the slow revolutions happening. Try going about 40mph put the car in neutral and let the engine idle as you coast to keep the noise down. Turn the car left and right, back and forth. Do your hear howling as you turn one way or the other? or your growling noise?
CV joints usally make a clunking type sound but I suppose they could growl but again, usually wheel revolutions make the noise louder.
