Default Mirror Switch

My mirror switch works intermittently, sometimes I can adjust my mirrors, sometimes I can't. I have one switch to adjust the mirrors and another to choose the left or right mirror. I assume the adjustment switch is corroded. Can this switch be disassembled and cleaned or should I just replace it. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

As always, thanks in advance!

The switches just pop out of the door. I use a flat bladed putty knife and put a piece of thin cardboard or a couple of layers of folded paer under it to prevent scratching the leather or vinyl material on the door and carefully work it out. They just pop back in. Make sure you make a diagram of the wire locations prior to unplugging them. I assume the directional switch for right and left mirrir is working OK since you said the mirror switch was intermittent.

I have a 78.

on mine you twist off the collar with a pair of needle nose. then the switch drops through. take off the top door trim amd you can label the wires and remove the switch. I disassembled mine cleaned it up and put dialectric grease in it. I then went to put it back, tightened the collar to much and snapped the switch...... .... bought a new one on ebay ....

Mine has shown signs of tempermental operation.
Many times, I am able to adjust BOTH mirrors at the same time.
That makes things a bit difficult, but I have learned to adjust the passenger mirror by switch postion and the left by hand if needed.
