Default What is this for?

Putting my '69 2.0 back together. What is the function of this "tube" located at the rear of the engine, near the oil cooler. It is about about the size of a cigar, is hollow, has a rubber "cap" on the bottom and has a small tube that extends through the cooling tin. It looks like some small, overflow tube? But for what?
Anyone???

It's a drain tube that connects to a hose that also connects to a hose bib on the bottom of the air filter housing. The correct hose is the same braided hose (8mm) that is used for fuel lines in your car. No hose clamps are required.

Thanks Peter, but a drain to catch what? Water/moisture/fuel?? (The engine does have Webers.) The top is sealed, so if it eventually filled up ...no where to go?? Curious..
