Default '84 911 starting problem help!

It has been running great. Just added new exhaust, SSI's and chip. Was starting well and running unbelievable well. Last couple of days will not start on first couple of tries. Now will not start at all. Starter is working fine. I think fuel. ?

Have you already checked to make sure you are getting spark? I would also check the DME relay as it is easy to check/replace and realtively inexpensive. My 84 had a similiar problem and that's what it was.

where is the DME relay. And would this be an intermittent problem. The other day it did the same thing but started after 8-10 tries. I figure if it is a relay gone bad, it would just completely go out. I am assuming I am getting spark since it was running yesterday.

The DME relay is under the drivers seat and attached to a corner of the DME box. It's about 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches in size. You can remove it by using a 10mm wrench or if you can get it in there, a 10mm socket. Some guys have just removed the seat, also. Be sure to disconnect the battery first. Yes, sometimes they are intermittent. Mine was. 1st time it quit, it restarted after I let it set a couple of hours. 2nd time, it ran ok for a short time. 3rd time, it wouldn't do anything. I borrowed one from a friend to check it out. If a friend has one that works, borrow it to see if that is the culprit. They fit 84-89 Carrera's. If that truns out to be the problem, buy two and keep one in the glove box. They are one of the weak points in the Carrera's.

I guess the only place to by them is a Porsche dealer?

Pelican & others online sell DME Relays. I've had to replace my '84's as well. As for local, ...? May find a Porsche specialist in your area who has some on the shelf.

Once you get it started, it runs well, or is it operating differently than before?

with my new chip, SSI's and the Monty.....Oh my God. It will never be the same again. I am going to have to upgrade the brakes next. I really feel like I am pushing the envelope.
