Hi James

I still use the puck for most quick Jobs as it fits well in the jack but as it got hot ladt summer I completely pulverised a puck... so now I just throw the 2 by 6 under and it works fine..

Gear Wrenches! While at Sears, pick up a set of them (Metric). If you want to splurge, get a set of the stubby version too! They are my favorite tool.

Go aluminum on the jack, if you can. Much easier to move around. While people have mixed results, I've had my HF "racing" jack that cost less than $90 for 5 years now. The removable 2 piece handle makes it easy to pack in the trunk for DE's.

My Bendpak lift is the single best tool I've bought, it makes the whole lifting process easier and more flexible. It amazes me how many people have these now, so it should be on everyone's longterm list.

Hi Oshin,

You're getting lots of good advice here ...see what I mean

As for the tools, do not skimp on quality ...Craftsman is the minimum, IMHO. And a big-time plus of Craftsman over the really good stuff is that Sears is open 7 days and through the evening ....try hunting down a tool truck after 6pm or on a Sunday!! As for which set to buy, that's up to you. You can save lots of dough by buying a set, that's clear. But be sure you are not buying odd stuff that you own't use or you're not saving any money. FWIW, some of my oldest Crafstman pieces are over 20-years old. Yes I have replaced some that broke, but that's the beauty of it...no questions asked replacement over the counter. Best of luck to ya!

Edward

While I didn't read all the posts, make sure you are familiar with safety procedures before you do anything (e.g., don't get under a car held up only by a jack--you need jack stands!!). Your chest does not hold up a car very well.
