rear torsion bar indexing question.
Ok, so if I jack up the car, undo the four bolts around the torsion bar plate thing, pull the bar out and rotate it one or 2 splines or so and put it all back together the rear will be lower right? If I make sure I take note of the positions I shouldn't need an angle finding tool??
The car is getting corner balanced aligned etc later on, I just want to have a play around with heights before I get it fine tuned.
Thanks!!
Spence

Yes, as long as you rotate in the right direction.
Mark the position of the springplate with no load - the bottom bolt removed (the lower one - tire side). Then you play. Each notch is a fairly large amount. For a subtler drop, rotate inside one notch & outside the opposite direction one notch.

Thanks a lot Ian.
I just have 2 quick questions!
a. can I do this with just one side of the car jacked up at a time?
b. do I need to split the spring plate, or detach it from the trailing arm, I image it wont be easy moving the whole lot together.

And yes, you have to detach from the trailing arm. You have to remove the toe & camber bolts. Mark them first for position. Then the trailing arm bolts. Be cautious here because the springplate is under significant tension. You have to support it with a jack to get the bolts out anyway. While it's still jacked, remove the one bolt on the springplate cap. Then lower it to rest & mark.
Reverse the procedure to assemble.
