Sunroof won't open squarely
Replaced the sunroof cables on my 88 Carrera. Got the roof to open 3 times in a row; the 4th time it opened about 2" and then stopped. Removed roof to check that all plastic parts were in place (they were); that the rails and wind deflector was tightened down. Put roof back in, and it did the same thing. Noticed that the roof was not opening squarely - open wider at the passenger's corner than the driver's. Removed motor & cables, straightenend roof (opened about 1 1/2") re-attached cables, and still it didn't open squarely. Removed motor, and pushed roof to the full open position, reattached cables, replaced motor, and still it is not opening squarely. Any suggestions as to how to align the cables so that roof opens correctly? Thank you in advance!

with the roof out and the transmission out. Push the cables all the way towards the front of the car as far as they will go until they hit the piece that is screwed into the center of the track that the wind deflector arms are attached to. Put the roof in and install the cable ends in the slots on the roof. Now, push up on the rear of the sunroof until it is level with the roof of the car. While holding light pressure on the back of the sunroof, tighen the "hinge" bolt on the end of the cable. If these are not tight, the roof will not track straight. Tighten the front mounts and reinstall the transmission last. Good luck.
