Default DFW Engine drop Saturday 4/7

Hi all, I've posted about my track mishap earlier. I'm dropping the sick motor on Saturday morning. The plan is for me to have it all unhooked on Friday, and then the mechanics of raising the car up off the engine on Saturday. I've got a scissors lift, so this should be sweet.

A number of people here had PM'd me about seeing a drop, so this is the chance to see it without getting greasy. I'll probably let it down at about 9:30 or so. PM me if you need my address.

We've got a montly DFW 928 gathering that will take place at my house that morning too, as the waterpumpers will want to come over and shoot arrows at the air-cooled side of things, so it will be a fun time, and a chance to mix the two camps.

I'll have coffee and Kolaches on hand for everyone.

take a pix of the sissor jack I can't picture it. I too use a sissor trans jack, would like to see yours.

Good luck, lower it very slowly, if you are leaving the trany in go soo slow as you seperate the tranny.
If sissor jack can be driven by a air gun don't use it going down

It's a scissors lift, not a jack. A Bendpak unit which lifts the entire car. I use an ATV jack to go under the engine. I'll get the jack in place, and then lift the entire car off of the motor. I'm taking both the engine and tranny out together. That's how I've done it in the past, it seems easier.

Damn, wish I was free - I would come up there in a heatbeat - and get my hands dirty!

Thanks for the offer Daniel. This project will be going on for a couple of months once I get going on the rebuild. Maybe one of the weekends will work for you.

All unhooked, and ready to go tomorrow. In fact, the motor will be out in less than two minutes, it was all I could do to keep from taking it out all the way today. It's pulled back an inch, and down about 6"...

I don't know, I worked on and off, maybe an hour and a half tops? I'm doing engine only this time, so didn't have to remove swaybar or unhook CV's. If the engine goes back in without any problem mating to the tranny in the car, then dropping an engine this way is a piece of cake.

Hell, I thought when you dropped a 9 one one engine, you just had to cut the wheels off and it fell out. I'll find out tomorrow.

I see that the "easier than a 928" has caught on with the rest of the world. Man, some of our Texan "brothers" have influenced the world.

Is Loaded coming to assist or will there be too many '28ers there?

It went pretty well, no real surprizes other than I had to remove the muffler to pull the engine back far enough.

Fausto: what's the deal on the TV show?
