In my humble opinion the classic look is in.Wings are out unless it came from the factory that way.2000 wing on a on a 74 911 just doesnt look right. Stick with the classic beatiful lines of your car and go rent "the fast and the furious".

I think the GT2 wing is a little much for your narrow bodied car.

If you really want the biplane wing, then the 3.8RS wing might work. In my local club, there is a Blue '68 911 with a 3.0L turbo engine and the RS wing and it does not look out of place.

Or another option is the old Turbo wing pre-intercooler period. Check out www.mashaw.com for more option if you don't mind reproduction wings.

Best of luck,

i was looking at MAshaw and i used to have an rs3.8 wing for my C2. i figured the GT2 wasnt much bigger and would help feed air into the intercooler. If i went classic i would like a whaletail that doesnt have rubber but i cant find one of those.. ugh i have around 3 options! if anyone has any pics of nice porsches 74-89 with a nice wing please send my way!

Rob,

Another option is the '94 Turbo S wing in all fiber glass or even carbon fiber. I am not sure about the more air for the intercooler, but it will be lighter and more downforce then a normal Turbo tail. I have seen it on older cars before and it does not look out of place too much.

Rob, go to www.gt-racing.com and then to page two of 911 parts. They have the original style whaletail in fiberglass or carbon fiber, they also have the larger IROC edition of that tail, but it would probably be too big for your car unless you've installed RSR style flares. You can also get an all fiberglass version of the Carrera tail(often called the "RSA tail"). Also you might want to call MA Shaw. I am pretty sure they have lots more parts than are listed on their website. They may have what you are looking for and I have heard that they are the best quality fiberglass Porsche parts. You've got a classic car keep the look classic, it can still be mean.

Rob,

One point I don't see covered here is function. You said street/track, how much track? Are you planning on doing more track? 300# of rear down force matched to a front splitter can be pretty sweet in aiding your lap times. I have a photo I will post that will give you max down force but by removing 4 allen screws looks good at the coffee shop.

Hi Rob,

I recently purchased a red '88 Carrera with a GT2 wing. I uploaded the images through the upload photo link above and will try to attach them to this post. I apologize for their size and quality, as I am new to digital photos. If you can't access them through this site, email me and I will send them to you directly.

null

Good luck with your decision

Bill W., from the looks of the windows being used I'm betting the rest of the car is pretty darn "functional" too.

If you have the RSR 11" flares instead of the RS 9" flares then I think the 53" wide RSR/IROC whaletail would be pretty kickin'. Too bad it would looks so funny on my car or that's what I would go with. Do you have or are you considering the early RSR front spoiler?? That would lend even more to the "look"

I think it has the RS 9" flare, but im not too sure.. youre in houston and thats where my car came from! its a 1974 tangerine orange carrera, and the license plate used to say toad. wonder if it is familiar to you?? will it look way out of place with the 9" flare?

it does have the 9" flare.. think that wing will be too much? it does also have fikse FM10 wheels so it has the race appearance already
