911SC Hot Foot !!
Hi Guys,
I purchased a '79 911SC a few weeks ago and am very pleased with it.
I do have one slight problem in that it tends to pump our a LOT of hot air into the foot-wells leading to an unfortable drive (particuarly in traffic).
I have tried the air-con switches in various positions (is it me or do you need a degree in astro-physics to understand these controls !!?) but this does not seem to have much of an affect.
Has anybody encountered this problem ?
Regards,

The control on the dash directs the air. The red levers between the seats open the heat vents. If in the down position and you still get hot air it's possible the cables are broke or the boxes are bad. First try the lever, then you can move the lever and look under the car to see if it moves the heater box.

Not unlike old VW's, there's no happy medium IMHO. If the cables are inop get the car on a lift and manually open the flaps. If it is still too hot (was for me)put it back in the air and gently pull the air hoses off, and slide them to the side. That's the temporary fix; the final is listed quite aptly above. FYI, the old VW's were notorious for this issue and I can remember my dad removing the hoses every spring so he didn't get "hot foot". <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

The PO of my car had the same problem and his solution was to cut the stainless steel wire!! But it didn't solve the problem as I inherited the problem.
So last weekend I installed new cables and made sure the valved worked correctly. Now I can drive around on a relatively warm day w/o sweaty toes
The cables are cheap from Pelican. If you need install tips, send me an e-mail(Soukus@aol.com).
