Post 1986 911 Carrera Targa Tach

Hi
The tach on my 1986 911 went out this weekend. Has anyone taken one apart and repaired it. If so what would be common causes for it to go out. The speedo went out a few months ago and I am still searching for the nylon gear that is broken.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Finding the parts may be difficult. Unless you're strapped for cash, you're probably better off just shipping them to North Hollywood Speedometer for repair.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! Money is seldom an item most folks have enough of, even those that have a lot, they always want more. Maintaining my two Porsche cars is my hobby, I do all my own mechanic work, etc. and would love to find a source to purchase the parts I need to repair them.

Thanks

Edward

I have heard that it is cheaper (about 1/3 the cost) to send it to VDO for a rebuild, rather than get a whole new original. Now how to get it to VDO is not clear to me. That's all I know - sorry!
