I just came back from my weekend at Barber for the PCA race. It was my first weekend in a 911...ever! I had previosuly raced a 944 and I have to say...I finally get it. I now know what everyone just goes on and on about the 911. What a sweet ride. I love how it handles and works on a track.
Is this similar to anyone elses first experience in a 911?

Dont post this on any other board as they will beat you with a large stick. YOu will have to change you login name and location if this gets out
Please, No fights on the 911 board as we dont want to get it shut down like OT. Stick to politics and religion as these topics are less volatile than making statements like the 911 is a better car than the 9XX That would be a dangerous statement to make. Correct but dangerous.

I used to get so mad at the magazine articles, and how they would under rate my X==. But it didn't deliver the driving satisfaction I wanted on my favorite twisties. The first time I drove my 911 on a country road known for upsetting car balance, it delivered like a formula car on a racetrack.
I have driven formula cars. These cars are the real deal. I also have a 951. It is a fine, fine car. One should never under estimate what you can do with one, or the difference a wide set of stickies and some basic suspension tuning can make. I had a friend take me out in his 84 928 auto with very basic mods and fat tires. Brutally fast and balanced. Brutally fast. This was on the Tail of the Dragon, so no wussie road. In an auto.
I am still totally enamored with my 911, just giving positive feedback in regards to our front engined cousins. There are many rooms in Ferry's mansion.

Welcome to the Secret Order of Fraternal 911 Disciples. My 928 is a great ride too, but iin a different way. For the whole sports car package, the 911 is God's gift to mankind.

This thread is really pushing me! Although I love my 928, I have been thinking more and more about getting a 911 as well. Would this be considered cheating?
Don't sweat it guys, I won't tell the rest of the 928 guys about this! Allthough I do recognize Ed Hughes's avatar!

Don,
Wait until you get the car on Road Atlanta next week, you will like it even more. You will be able to stretch your legs a bit more.
Please get some new tires though, I don't want you to get loose when I pass you on the outside of T12.
Oh, and don't forget to bring your humility, because you are going to get toasted by my G car again!
See you next week!
