Default dropped the car at the mechanic today...

time to refresh some of the 30 year old parts

all suspension bushes are being replaced, ride height lowered, corner balance, wheel alignment & turbo tie rods. aparently this transforms the already good handling. (shocks were replaced last year)

next is a major service incl. valve adjustment, plugs, points, air & fuel filters, tune up, clutch, throttle and parking brake adjustment, etc etc ETC. I saw the list of work to be carried out as part of the major service and its extensive to say the least.

get the car back on friday afternoon...i'm excited!

Hi JV911,
Sounds good,
I've got a 76 911 and my mate just bought a 76 911 targa on Monday. Funny thing is the wipers didn't park on his either!! Also his high beam was on all the time.
I pulled both the switches apart yesterday and they were an easy fix. I you are going to have a go at it yourself, let me know and I'll steer you in the right direction.

JV911,
My 80 Targa has the same wiper problem. I would appreciate some tips on "parking" the wipers.
Thanks

Thanks for the offer Frank but the mechanic has fixed the prob. Aparently a five minute job...you just have to clean and adjust the contacts in the wiper stalk. Can you confirm the procedure for Zorro?

thanks

yea i did that to build suspense

i couldnt be happier with how honest and thorough the mechanic is and the quality of his work is top notch. he was recommended by my brother and his mates.

they've got a big presnece in the Carrera Cup series and always have several race cars in the shop.

sounds like the big freeze is starting to thaw up there

yeah -22

you know..when you go to turn the key and the ignition assembly is really stiff.. and when you go to start it it turns over slow ,,and when the moisture from your wet hair hits the windsheild and freezes you have to scrape the INSIDE of the window..

I guess you wouldn't .. but looking forward to March break..

was all psyched to get the car back on friday afternoon when i got the call:

"its not going to be ready today"

guess thats one of the drawbacks of using a mechanic that has lots of race cars in the shop - race cars take precedence when there is a race meeting

today is the day
