Default Desparately need 911SC piston

I am in the middle of rebuilding my 911SC motor. I just bounced a piston
off the floor and broke material off of one of the skirts. So, I
desparately need a 1980-on (9.3:1 compression ratio) piston for a US spec 911SC for Mahle nikasil cylinders. If any of you have one, please email me ASAP. I am supposed to be building this engine during the course of this week, with a mechanic coming over to help with cam timing on Friday, 3/2/07. Please help. This does not need to be a new piston. The pistons and cylinders have 120k miles on them.

If any of you have any guidance on how to identify the correct pistons, please share that info. I really need to know how to identify the weight group.

Thanks,

Don Bryant

Ouch! I know what I would have said and it wouldn't be family oriented.
You might try any of the Porsche "dismantlers". Also, the gentleman who own's Cars Inc., the targa top rebuilder in N.J., has been advertising various individual usable engine parts on e-bay including heads, cranks and cylinders from 2.2's to 3.2's including the 3.0's. You might considering calling him tomorrow to see if he has a 3.0 piston--Dan **carsincnj.---**609 298 2277. His web site is http://www.carsinc-nj.com/ . I have not dealt with him but I've talked to folks who have and had good experiences.
Good Luck

Thanks Russell. I will definitely call Dan. I have gotten several parts from him in the past.

Default Dropped Piston

I can't believe you dropped the piston but considering your Porsche luck lately, it was almost inevitable something else expensive would happen. Let me know how the search goes and if you need any help. I will be in town for the next month of weekends.

George (and anyone else interested),

I was rescued by Tom Butler. Tom bought all of Gary Fairbanks old stock and is setting up a used parts business. If you need anything, contact him at butlertl@sbcglobal.net.

George, I will be busy putting the engine back together Thursday and Friday nights, and Sunday. Stop by anytime. I am sure to need a hand.

Don
