Arrow Inexpensive R134 conversion kits????

I have seen some inexpensive (<$200) R12->R134 conversion kits advertised. Has anyone had any experience with them. I currently have a R12 system in good shape. Many of the hoses and the compressor are new. Please respond with your experiences

Hold on to your horses.
As a refrigeration mechanic in my past life I can tell you that if you have a good R12 system in your car, you will pray that it stays that way. R134A is a polyester derived refrigerant and breaks down a lot easier than R12 when subjected to heat, ie little or no heat transfer from a plugged condensor or when inching along in bumper to bumper traffic. If you need A/C in a Porsche, stay with the R12 as long as you possibly can.

Go over to the Pelican Board and do a search on air conditioning also using the name "Jim Sims." You'll find a ton of information.

If you're going to use R12, you should be sure all of your hoses are barrier hoses. Otherwise, the precious (and expensive) R12 will eventually leak out.

911 a/c can be a very slippery slope. Have fun!
