Default How to replace sunroof cables?

DIY project - replacing sunroof cables in an 88 Carrera. Have left & right replacement cables - I understand that they have to be modified to fit the 88 Carrera (part # indicates a 964; I have to remove the felt so it will fit). How do I remove the existing cables to retrofit the new cables?

Thank you in advance!

John d
Stephen is right on point. Also, see 101 Projects and search here and in Pelican. Lots of infomation (including the things I screwed up!). Take lots of before photos and "while your at it" replace all the small plastic parts that wear out and take a hard look at the felt seals. Make sure that if you buy these parts you get the correct ones. Things other than the cables changed over the years.
