Default Carbon fiber targa top?

Has anyone ever seen a carbon fiber targa top? That could save some weight and add structural rigidity if it's done right.

Also, does anyone have an broken targa top or frame that I could buy? I want to put a moonroof in it. I've given up on finding a decent Saratoga top, and I may be able to insert a moonroof that I can open and close while driving down the road.

Chris: Years ago there was a guy in L.A. that built aftermarket Targa tops, and I think that he did some carbon fiber versions. You're right about the weight, but, unfortunately, it won't bring anything to the structural party. The only way to do that would be to weld in (front & rear) a permanent panel. Call Performance Products and see if they know how to locate the builder of the aftermarket tops, you never know - he might still be around. I think that his name is Ralph Booth...

Used tops appear on Ebay quite often.

Thanks all. This seems little benefit for a big expenditure if there's no added structural rigidity.

My top is practically new now, but I'll consider building a moonroof into a used fiberglass top if I find one for the right price.
