Bought an 89 SA edition,...120k on the clock with a top/bottom rebuild at 96K in Nov......luvin' and learning it.....radar/jammer loaded...took her out I-16,..with 2 spotter cars , various distances forward and a car load of others pulling the marker behind,..I'm reserved at this attempt,..one: being 50 years old and knowing (in GA.) it's straight to jail......two: do I trust all "mechanical" is well? In any case...I was able to pin out 145MPH then backed off..I ran her for quite a ways at a SOLID 141-142,...decided to pull a bit further (it WAS there) then SWORE i saw a GA HW patrol coming my way....no cameras in the car (dumbass me) and not much resollection of specific RPMs..I do know I was not at redline, for sure,...but somewhat close....

That was the last frikin' time i did (nor ever will) do this on a US interstate.....

..I could tell the car loved it..........no traffic around......

I'm done,...next time, it's on the track, where it belongs.

Loaded: What's "The Pulse"? It's in your LED in the pic. Is that a dance hit/techno station?

I'd make sure I'd gone thru every inch of my suspension before I went over 100 in a 20 year old car. If not for you, then for innocent bystanders around you.

weight doesn't effect top speed, 500HP, aerodynamics and a seven speed gear box do wonders (they told us in school that the M5/6 loses almost 30HP over 100MPH with the engine under paneling removed. How the engineers figured out that from drag must be a weird calculation

A GPS is far more accurate, on a recent cross country trip, my buddy and I found out his Jetta GLI is around 10% (reading faster than actual) off on the speedo when compared to a GPS, I would assume a BMW is the same so true speed could be much lower

FWIW, my showroom factory brochure for my 84 3.2 lists 155 mph as max for that car. I've hit 120 and that's enough for me, especially with an undersized extra-quick MOMO steering wheel. Very spooky with a crosswind.

I touch 130 on the back staright at the glen in my stock 86 3.2 with no tail or splitter.

The front end is light at that point, even more so in the uphill esses coming on to that straight.

Even if I had room, I'd be uncomfortable going much faster without a tail/splitter.

From the side the 911 has a much more "wing like" profile than typical 3 box body style.

An aftermarket reprogram or chip removes the limiter on most all cars
