DIY Oil Line Change
The oil line from the engine to the external thermostat is leaking. Replacing it doesn't look like a difficult job but my searches about changing it on Rennlist hint that there can be problems doing it. The Bentley manual suggests heating the fitting. Anyone have any more specific cautions, tricks or directions for changing oil lines?
Thanks

The trick for me was to take both fittings off the thermostat. If I remeber correctly the one that is in front (or easiest to get to) goes to the oil tank. The one from the engine sits behind it. Mine came off without too much trouble after I quit trying to do just the back one.

It also helps to soak them with penetrant for a couple of days. Yes, you definitely must remove the outboard one in order to remove the other. The big problem is when corrosion has gotten so bad that the line fitting strips the threads on the aluminum regulator as you loosen the line. If that happens the regulator must be replaced, depending on thread damage.
