Default FIBREGLASS FRONT WINGS

Hi Guys,

Anything I should be wary of by replacing my wings with Fibreglass ones?

ie, weight distribution etc?

Thanks

Craig

For a street car, it will not matter.

For a race car, everything matters.

It won't save you as much weight as some vendors claim. The hood is a better candidate for fiberglass, in terms of weight savings. You also might have trouble fitting your headlights correctly -- with some fiberglass pieces, it makes sense to fit in steel headlight buckets. Fiberglass chips MUCH more than steel in street or track use. You will also get star-shaped cracks above the wheels from rocks and debris thrown up at the underside of the fenders. You can add liners or paint on the stuff they use to line pickup truck beds. The steel buckets and fender lining will add weight, of course.

Other than that, I have them and they're great. Mine were from Rennspeed, and they did not need headlight buckets replacement.

Thanks for tha replies.

Mine is for rust. I am getting a little worried that the wings have been bodged at some point, as I found a small bubble in the paint, and then I found another, and another.

Not sure if they were there all along, or if the paint is bubbling and im noticing them as they emerge.

Havent had a chance to have a real look yet, but if there is a serious rust issue on the wings I may as well replace them with Fibreglass ones, at least then I wont have to worry about rust.

Rennspeed looks great but do you guys know of any UK stockists?

Just saw this old post. You can get carbon body parts from Cargraphics, in uk via Parr.
btw, if we fit carbon or fibreglass panels, what are the crash/safety implications? Are some panels allowed and others are more dangerous? Anyone know?
