Distributor Lube/Clean??

What is the best product to clean and lube the springs and mechanism under the rotor dust cap? I am changing my cap and rotor and there is dust and crap in there. I hear not to use WD-40 but Cam lube or equivalent.
Also, I do not plan to remove the entire distributor at this time. Just a quick fix for now.

I don't have a direct answer to you question, but I highly recommend that everyone check out Warren Hall's (Early_ S_ Man) posts on this thread regarding distributor maintenance. Thanks I read this after searching here and Pelican. All I can find is distributor maintenance for systems with points.
