Post What to expect with the engine pulled?

As most of you know, when we fix things on our old cars things that weren't broken or not known to be break. Is there anything I should be aware of that will probably need replacing like for example engine mounts?
Also, I do not have a engine stand. What can I do with my beloved engine once I get it from underneigth my car. Can I rest it on blocks of wood, not on the exchangers but the actual engine it self? Should I bother making a cart with wheels to lower the motor onto. If I just lowered onto a sled, how would I get back underneight the car? What do 3.0 motors weigh (77 Carrera ROW). Any advice appreciated. I plan on starting the activities come December 1st, so I am trying to put some type of plan together.

There havebeen several good articles about that adventure written..and i seem to recall a really good one in an issue of UpfixinderPorche- just cant remember which one.
A dolly works..if its one you can getthe jack out from it works better- and makes the engine easier to relocate. two ppl can easily place a 911 engine on a jack tho..and it is relatively easy to make up a saddle for the engine to sit on for the jack if you want.
I could go on but i have to run- feel free to contact me offline and I'll be happy to lend an ear

A 77 Carrera 3.0 engine weighs around 440 lbs (200 kg). One option is to make a 3 sided dolly from 4x4's or 4x6' or similar, on wheels. That way you lower the engine on it, with the opening in the "U" facing the rear, can pull the jack out, and can move the engine around.
