Post Gear linkage - 911SC

Does anyone know how much fore and aft play there should be in the shift coupler bushings in either side of the Y shaped yoke underneath the cover at the rear of the transmission tunnel
Mine have about 1mm/40 thou. Is that correct?

As you have prabably guessed, the gear selection on my car is not the best - it cannot be hurried and the change from 1st to 2nd is particularly slow and heavy. It can also be difficult to get into first. I have already swapped to Swepco - it definitely helped but the box is still less than perfect.

Does anyone out there know of a G50 upgrade that utilises a modified bellhousing to allow the box to easily fit an early car?

The difficult first-into-second shift is a classic symptom of the need to replacing your shifter and coupler bushings. When was the last time this was done?
