How much of the trunk interior and engine bay get painted? Does anyone ever pull the engine or strip the truck for a high dollar repaint?

C'mon guys- who in his area can hit it with the high-speed buffer for him?

You'll no doubt want to pay for the wool pads as bad paint like that will destroy them! Still- far cheaper than a paint job...

It all depends on the money you want to spend. For a full restoration/concours type paint job up to Porsche's original standards, the whole tub needs to be stripped pretty well, especially for a complete color change. That costs money though if you don't DIY.

However, for most driver quality cars, a repaint in the same color most likely does not need the engine bay painted or the trunk area paint since that paint is typically still O.K. yet. Plus, no one really sees those areas while you're driving the car!
