Default 915 Transmission Upgrades - Advice Needed

I am putting a 915 transmission into a Porsche 914 behind an engine that will make 400 rwhp/300 rwtq at about 8000 rpm. The transmission has been rebuilt by the previous owner so I don't know what gears are in it. What I do know is the following:

915 Transmission - Magnesium Case
Ring & Pinion Flipped for Mid Engine Use
Vellios Side Shifting Conversion
Open Differential - No LSD

I just purchased a transmission cooler from a Euro 915 and was also going to get a billet side plate. However, I noticed that the Euro tranny cooler pump is built into the side plate so it looks like a billet unit is out of the question.

I'm looking for advice here as to what is needed to keep this transmission alive behind the engine I am using. Is the Euro cooler good enough or should I ditch it and use the billet side cover and a custom tranny cooler? Anything else I should be concerned with?

Hmmm, it was my understanding that a 915 can only take up to about 400 HP. It sounds like you talking about an engine that will put out well over 500 HP. It may not last too long. I wonder if it would be at all possible to put a G50 in a 914? Anyone?

The G50 is too long and I'm not sure if the ring and pinion can be flipped. I guess it could be run upside down but then lubrication is a problem. A 930 box is good for more but only a 4 speed and more expensive.

From what I understand it's torque that kills the 915 and not necessarily horsepower. The rotary engine makes decent torque but not as much as a V8 would. I'm thinking that the power delivery of the engine will be very similar to a high performance flat six (higher RPM, decent power, etc.) and that the 915 would be a good match. Thanks for the reply!

If I was going to connect a V-8 to a 915, I'd be using the aluminum-cased version and a custom pressurized lubrication & cooling system. Mag-cased ones won't hold that kind of torque for long.

I'd also add the WEVO main bearing support plate, too.
